Grunion Run Beach Walk
Join fellow alumni and a senior aquarist from Birch Aquarium to view the seasonal grunion run at Del Mar beach on the evening of Friday, June 29.
Enjoy an experience unique to Southern California and watch the seasonal running of the grunion as they spawn on the beach. We will be joined by a senior aquarist from Birch Aquarium who will speak to us about the grunion, show us just hatched grunion, and lead us on the search to see the grunion run from the ocean onto the beach and back again.
We will meet in Powerhouse Park, by the Powerhouse building (the big building with a large smokestack). There is metered parking on the street which is free after 10 p.m. There is also free parking along the street 1/2 block to the north and one block to the south of Powerhouse Park.
Light refreshments will be provided.
