mentoring 101: How to find mentors across generational gaps

Thursday, Nov. 21, 12 pm (Central)

Finding and maintaining a professional mentor takes strategic intentionality.

career-month_11-21-19_mentoring-101As a female entrepreneur, Kate Volzer, AB’09, MBA’14, has had to cultivate relationships with mentors in her own life to help her navigate the start-up and higher education landscapes. Through founding UChicago’s Wisr platform, Volzer has seen a number of mentor-mentee relationships unfold and how those are navigated. Mentors can be a source of information, a connection into an industry you want to tap in to, a listening ear and foundation of support, and so much more. In this session, Volzer will be looking at how to find and create relationships with potential mentors in your life.

In this session you will learn how to:

  • Identify possible mentors

  • Make the ask for a conversation

  • Keep in touch maintaining those relationships
